Frequently Asked Questions
Is my data backed up to the cloud?
No. All data is stored locally on your device. We recommend using your device's built-in backup system (iCloud Backup on iOS, Google Backup on Android) to keep your data safe.
Can I sync between multiple devices?
Not currently. Bill Promptly is a single-device, offline-first app. Cloud sync may be added in a future update.
How do I add a bill?
Tap the + button on the home screen, enter the bill name, amount, due date, and category, then tap Save. Your bill will appear on the home screen and reminders will be scheduled automatically.
How do I delete a bill?
On the home screen, swipe left on any bill card and tap Delete. This will also remove all payment records and scheduled reminders for that bill.
How do reminders work?
When you add a bill with a due date, the app automatically schedules up to 3 local notifications: 3 days before, 1 day before, and on the due date at 9:00 AM. Reminders are cancelled automatically once you mark the bill as paid.
How do I record a partial payment?
Open the bill detail screen and tap Record Payment. Enter the amount — it doesn't have to be the full balance. The app calculates the remaining balance automatically. You can record as many payments as needed until the bill is fully paid.
How do I mark a bill as fully paid?
Record a payment for the remaining balance, or open the bill detail screen and tap Mark as Paid. The bill will move to the Paid section and all reminders will be cancelled.
What happens if I reinstall the app?
Your local data and scheduled reminders will be lost. Please back up your device regularly using iCloud or Google Backup before reinstalling.
Can I set a custom reminder time?
Not at the moment. Reminders are sent at 9:00 AM on each scheduled day. Custom reminder times may be added in a future update.
