Frequently Asked Questions

Is my data stored in the cloud?

No. Bill Promptly stores the core bill and payment data locally on your device. The app does not require an account.

Can I sync between multiple devices?

Not currently. Bill Promptly is a local-first, single-device app. Use backup export and restore tools if you need to move data manually.

How do I back up my data?

Open the Statistics area, choose Data Management, then export a JSON backup. Backup files include bills, payments, and settings.

How do I restore a backup?

Open Data Management and choose Restore Backup. Restoring a backup replaces the current local bills, payments, and settings.

How do reminders work?

Bill Promptly schedules local notifications from your device. You can use global defaults or choose per-bill reminder settings. Paid bills have their reminders cancelled.

How do I record a partial payment?

Open a bill, choose Record Payment, and enter the amount paid. The app updates the remaining balance and payment status automatically.

What is AI Entry?

AI Entry is an optional feature for creating bills or recording payments from plain language. It is disabled by default and only works after you choose a provider and enter your own API credentials.

Does Bill Promptly process payments?

No. Bill Promptly is a tracking and reminder tool. It does not provide banking, payment processing, lending, investing, or financial advice.
